Welcome to the website of Greens in Fingal, in particular the Dublin North Group of An Comhaontas Glas, the Green Party in Ireland.
The inaugural meeting of the Fingal Greens took place in The Grove Hotel, Malahide in early 1984. Since then we have continued to work as community activists building local resilience against the shocks which come with boom and bust economic cycles. Whether elected as local Councillors or national public representatives (TD’s, Senators or MEP’s) Fingal Greens work to put in place an economic system which respects the limitations of Earth’s resources.
The seven principles which all members of the Fingal Greens and the party nationally, advocate are as follows:

The impact of society on the environment should not be ecologically disruptive.

Conservation of resources is vital to a sustainable society.

All political, social and economic decisions should be taken at the lowest effective level.

Society should be guided by self-reliance and co-operation at all levels.

As caretakers of the Earth, we have the responsibility to pass it on in a fit and healthy state.

The need for world peace overrides national and commercial interests.

The poverty of two-thirds of the world's family demands a redistribution of the world's resources.
That being said, many people join the Fingal Greens with a variety of priorities and interests. Some are motivated to ensure their children have a good quality of life and a sustainable future. Others wish to fight inequality and injustice, while others enjoy exploring new green technologies and ways to sustainably grow and sell food and other vital materials.
The diversity of backgrounds and interests among this, the largest Green Party group in Ireland, also makes for interesting conversation and very sociable events. I look forward to hearing your own ideas and to meeting you soon.
